Hear the Difference!

Hear your mixed & mastered track before you commit. No risk. No obligation. It’s your music!

  • Do you have your tracks recorded but find yourself struggling to get the right mix for your project?

  • Wouldn't you rather spend your time writing & performing instead of mixing & mastering?

  • Have you always wanted to hear how your tracks would sound after a quality mix but don't want to commit to a hired gun you've never worked with?

Getting the right sound for your project means finding the right fit between your music, the performance, and the mix. No rule says you have to do it all on your own—in fact, many times the best thing you can do for your song is to bring in others to help elevate your project to a new level. Ultimately, everyone involved serves the same mutual client—your song!

Not every mix engineer is right for every song. Am I the right choice to mix your project?

If your music is focused on EDM or Hip Hop, I may not be the right choice.

My skills are more in tune with genres based around live musicians playing real instruments.

How Does This Work?

1. Say Hello!

Request a sample mix by filling out my contact form. For practical reasons, I can only offer one sample mix for each new client and only a limited number of sample mixes are available in a month. Please keep the song length to under 5 minutes with a track count under 48. Your tracks must have the same starting point & format—WAV files with sample rates of 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz at 24-bit are most common.

2. Let’s Talk ABOUT YOUR SONG!

MattRecio2016.jpg

You and I can schedule a brief phone / video call to introduce ourselves and discuss your song along with any specific mix notes you have.

I’ll ask a few basic questions about you, your sound, and your plans for your music. You’ll be able to ask me about the process and my services.

My business hours are Monday - Friday between 9 AM & 5 PM Eastern (GTM -4:00).

3. Share Your Multitrack FILES

Provide your multitrack files via your cloud-based service of choice. Google, Apple, Dropbox, and others all offer free or low-cost options for transferring large files. Pro Tools and Pro Tools Intro users can use the built-in cloud collaboration features to invite me to your project—I'll grab the audio tracks for you!

4. Hear The Results!

Within approximately 10 business days, you will receive the mixed & mastered excerpt of your song in MP3 format for easy assessment on different speakers and headphones.

5. Make an Informed Decision!

Approve the sample mix and book your project within 10 business days to receive a discounted rate as a first-time client. Upon its completion, you'll receive the full song in WAV format, suitable for digital distribution.

If you're not satisfied with the sample mix, simply decline the offer to move forward at this time. That's it. No gimmicks, no drama, and no hard feelings. Your music is important to you and I will always respect that.

Either way, you retain the full rights to your song and any resulting sound recordings I provide to you!

It is your music!

What is a Sample Mix?

It's a one-time, no-risk, no-obligation offer to have one of your songs mixed & mastered at no charge to you.

After assessing the free excerpt provided, you may choose to complete the project at a discounted rate for first-time clients or simply decline if you're not satisfied for any reason. While fully mixed & mastered, the sample is only an excerpt, typically 2/3 of your song—plenty of music to make your decision.

It's an audition—let's see if I'm the right fit for you and your music.

Why Consider a Sample Mix?

For you, it's a chance to assess a quality mix of your song without committing to anything.

For me, it's a chance to demonstrate my capabilities for delivering a fully mixed & mastered song, ready for digital distribution. When you choose to book your project, you’ll already know you’re going to end up with a great-sounding track you can confidently share with your audience.

For you, it's an opportunity to compare the results with your rough mix or your own mix of the same song to make an informed decision about your project needs, and where I might help you in getting your music to sound its best.

Are Any Mix Revisions Included?

No revisions are offered for your sample mix; however, should you decide to move forward with booking your project, we will start with any mix notes from those same results. My services include up to 3 rounds of revisions, with a $35 charge for each additional round. Most mixes are approved within 3 revisions.

Are Any Alternate Mixes Provided?

Only the primary mix is provided as the excerpt for your assessment. Again, should you move forward with booking your project, my services include the primary mix along with the following alternate mixes, unmastered, for greater flexibility and future opportunities:

  1. Vocals Up (primary mix with vocals at a slightly higher volume)

  2. Vocals Down (primary mix with vocals at a slightly lower volume)

  3. Instrumental (no vocals)

  4. A Capella (vocals only)

Will My Song Be Mastered?

Yes, the excerpt provided will be mixed & mastered so you can make a fair decision when comparing to other songs you listen to. When you decide to book your project, we can discuss your mastering needs for this song as well as for any other songs in your project. Mastering for digital distribution is most common. For release on physical formats (CD & vinyl), I will recommend using a dedicated mastering engineer.
